Subject: Delay in conducting the Appendix-III Examination in the Accounts Department
The last Appendix-III Examination for promotion to Senior Section Officer (Accounts) was held in June 2024.
The examination is required to be conducted annually.
Many Senior Section Officer (Accounts) vacancies exist across Zonal Railways, increasing the workload on existing staff.
Eligible Senior Accountants/Accountants are awaiting promotion.
Delay in conducting the examination has blocked legitimate promotional opportunities and caused dissatisfaction among staff.
AIRF requested Railway Board to conduct the Appendix-III Examination at the earliest and fill the vacancies promptly.

Notification likely to be issued. Exam may be in the last quarter of 2026 / first quarter of 2027
