Role and Duties of Staff and Welfare Inspector

  1. Link between Railway employees and Administration

  2. Visit workplaces; note and pursue staff grievances

  3. Explain Railway welfare schemes

  4. Help in obtaining wages, allowances and settlement dues

  5. Assist families of deceased employees with settlement dues and compassionate appointment

  6. Inspect offices and verify staff records and grievance registers

  7. Supervise welfare facilities; suggest improvements

  8. Inspect Railway colonies; ensure cleanliness and maintenance

  9. Help employees and families obtain medical care

  10. Promote cultural, recreational, sports, Scouts and Women’s Welfare activities

  11. Organise employees’ and children’s camps

  12. Inspect workshops for compliance with the Labour Laws

  13. Accompany Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and Personnel Officers during inspections

  14. Perform other duties relating to staff matters
