Project Utkrisht
Under this Project, IR is upgrading the passenger coaches of identified rakes with passenger-friendly amenities and modern features.
This Project is providing facilities for ICF type Coaches
The first train under Project Utkrish is Kalka Mail (12311/12312) HWH-Howrah - KLK- Kalka on 02.10.2018 on the auspicious occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Initiated in 2018-19. 66 pairs of trains (140 rakes)
Railways have plans to develop 640 Utkrisht rakes as part of the up-gradation of its mail/express trains in the next two years at a cost of Rs 400 crore.
The approximate cost is Rs. 60 Lakhs per Rake.
Utkrisht R Rakes. R stands for refurbished.
Salient features of the Newly upgraded Rakes are as follows:
Vinyl wrapping of the doorway and gangway along with a big size mirror.
Provision of Fire extinguishers
Swachhata logo and stickers
New color scheme
Bottle holder, new ladders, GreenGo stickers
Ceiling fan in Non AC Sleeper coach painted with White color.
Braille signage and night glow stickers
LED panel lighting in AC Coaches.
“Swachh Rail Toilet” (SRT) - A Hybrid Design Bio Toilet innovated by Indian Railway has been fitted in all coaches, giving an odorless experience.

Stainless steel paneling - inside the pantry car
New stainless steel utensils in the Pantry car

In addition, the following checks are for Work charged posts
Financial implications for the operation of posts for one year taking Mean Pay of Pay Cell 1 and Pay Cell 10 of 7th PC Matrix, % DA as on date, HRA, TA, DA on TA, 12% leave salary on Mean Pay and 4.17% gratuity on Mean Pay and DA thereon.
Showing availability of funds /provision in relevant works for creation duly vetted by Associate Finance.

Object of the establishment of RCT:
Provision for compensation by Railways on account of loss, damage of goods etc., and also due to accidental deaths and injury was maintained.
To reduce the burden on civil courts for Railway related compensation and refund of fares.
Speedy disposal of claims at the earliest.
Functions of RCT
Inquiring into and determining claims against a Railway Administration.
The refund of fares or freight
Compensation for death or injury to passengers
